Storage systems and components we review

The buying category covers primary arrays, flash shelves, expansion enclosures, storage controllers, and JBODs. Mixed lots from data-center refreshes and storage consolidations can be submitted together.

Platform families listed for evaluation include NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE Nimble and 3PAR, Pure Storage, IBM, and Synology. OEM names identify equipment only and do not imply endorsement.

  • SAN and NAS arrays
  • All-flash shelves and expansion shelves
  • JBODs and storage controllers
  • Units with or without drives installed

Document media and configuration clearly

Include array model, controller type, shelf count, drive types and quantities, licenses or accessories if applicable, and the system condition. If you do not have a complete configuration, send the information available and note what is missing.

Call out whether media is installed, removed, or requires separate handling. This affects project planning and the written data-sanitization scope.

Agree on data handling before release

Data-bearing devices need a defined disposition path. State your required sanitization or destruction method, serial-level reporting needs, and any documentation requirements in the request.

Logistics, payment, packing, and any on-site work are evaluated for each project. Do not ship or release equipment until the offer and project scope have been confirmed in writing.
